Pee Dee Virtual Charity Race

How the race works:

1. Register any time between April 13 - May 18.  During registration you will choose one of several non-profits. 100% of your registration fee will go to that non-profit.  That’s right, 100%. We are not doing this to make money – we are doing this to let runners in our community help local non-profits during these challenging times. 
2. Go Run the distance you registered for any time between May 15 – May 18.  You may run outdoors or on a treadmill.  Note:  All current local municipality Stay at Home orders allow us to run outdoors (observing Social Distancing guidelines).
3. Submit your Time online. Runners submit their run time – this is EASY with our enhanced virtual race website (details below).
4. Can I run more than one distance? Yes, support as many charities and run as much as you would like. For every distance entered and completed you will increase your chance at winning a door prize

What do runners get:

1. Simply Timing will be giving away 3 gift cards to Fleet Feet ($100, $50, and $50)
   1. To qualify a runner must have ran their distance and entered their time by May 18 at 11:59pm
   2. Runners who register but do not run will NOT be eligible
   3. We will do a drawing on Facebook live with all runners who ran to announce the winners
   4. Gift cards will be mailed out to the winners
2. Runners will receive Pee Dee Grand Prix Points for participating
   1. 1 mile run= 5 points
   2. 5K or 10K= 10 points each
   3. Max of 20 points will be allowed per person
3. The ability to help a charity while practicing safe social distancing and doing something we all love.
4. There are no awards or age group awards for this race. This race is strictly to help raise money for charity

Optional Swag:
When you register you will have the opportunity to purchase our Stay Strong swag package which includes a shirt, a rubber bracelet, and a commemorative race bib featuring the #RunnersStayStrong flag.  The swag package costs just $15 and includes shipping to your US address (add $2.50 for 2X or $4 for 3X sizes). PAckages will ship out the Monday after the race is completed. Charities You Can Run For:

• CARE House of the Pee Dee: As a child advocacy center, CARE House of the Pee Dee's mission is to promote help, hope, and healing in a nurturing environment to child abuse victims and their families, through supportive services and their prevention.
• Civil Air Patrol: The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the official U.S. Air Force Auxiliary. It is a civilian volunteer, benevolent, nonprofit organization with three primary missions: Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs, and Emergency Services. Aerospace Education to CAP members and the General Public. Cadet Programs for youth ages 12 to 18. Emergency Services such as Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief, and Humanitarian Services. CAP volunteers and cadets handle over 90 percent of inland search and rescue missions and save approximately 75 lives per year. The Florence Squadron has performed several emergency services functions and developed hundreds of young leaders through the cadet program.
• Darlington Humane Society: DCHS is a non-profit organization with the mission of promoting humane care of dogs and cats in Darlington County
• Diabetes Wellness Council: The Wellness Council for Coastal SC (DBA The Diabetes Wellness Council) is focused on one thing; helping people prevent or better control their diabetes to improve their health. This is especially important right now in the midst of the pandemic when people who have uncontrolled blood sugar are at greater risk for complications related to the virus. We can help improve their immune system with better blood sugar control. We offer consultations and coaching online or by phone.
• Florence Literacy Council: The mission of the Florence Area Literacy Council is to provide One-on-One adult literacy instruction, to build student capability and self-esteem through the use of trained volunteer tutors serving the greater Florence area. There is a 33% adult illiteracy rate in Florence County and the Florence Area Literacy Council works with adults of all ages to help them improve their education and improve their lives. 
• Jonathan Foundation: Suicide is now the 2nd leading cause of death for young people 15-29.  The Jonathan Foundation is on mission to touch the lives of teens who are at risk. Join us for a tremendous cause.
• St. Anthony's Catholic School of Florence: is committed to educating the whole child, by providing a learning environment that promotes academic excellence, spiritual growth, and moral development- building a solid foundation for today's youth to succeed in tomorrow's world.

• Upper Pee Dee YMCA: The Y is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose and each other. Working locally, we focus on empowering young people, improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across communities.
